Our professional and local guide will lead you on an exciting journey among the ‘calli’, ‘campi’ and palaces through the history, secrets, and life of Venice between the past and the present.
The walk starts in the city center, St. Mark’s Square, from where you will reach the Remedio Bridge, which offers a privileged view of the Bridge of Sighs, also known as the “Lovers’ Bridge”, even though it actually leads to the dark and feared Doge’s prisons.
The tour continues towards one of the many crooked bridges of Venice, arriving at Campo Santa Maria Formosa, one of the largest squares of the city, from here branch off 9 streets and 11 bridges, many of which lead to the entrances of the buildings surrounding the square.
Then you will cross the Campiello degli Orbi and reach the area of Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo, where the Venetian hospital is now located. After greeting the hidden and charming Campiello Remer, which offers a special view of the Rialto Bridge, the itinerary leads to the legendary home of Marco Polo, the Venetian well known explorer.
You will get off the beaten path of Venice, away from the crowds to discover uncommon corners of the most romantic city in the world!
At the end of the tour, you will receive a QR code to download a digital map with 2D images of Venice from the Middle Ages to the 18th century. You can compare some of the most fascinating places and discover how they appeared in different eras compared to today. Imagine that the Rialto Bridge was once a drawbridge and the Doge's Palace was once an authentic medieval castle!
